Executive Committee

Lancaster University CU is ran by an elected committee of students. Read a bit about each of them below and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of them.

President: Claire Parker
Hey I’m Claire, I’m the president of the Christian Union so you’ll probably see me around quite a lot! I’m in my third year studying bio-medicine and I’m from Leeds. I love music and although I can’t play any instruments, I will sing and dance along to almost any tune! My greatest joy is seeing God glorified and I’m super excited to see all he has planned over the coming year, and I’m looking forward to meeting new people to share in the journey with!

Vice-President: Matthew Graves
Hi I’m Matthew, I’m in my third year studying Maths and Statistics and I come from Manchester. I’m interested in a lot of things from basketball to anime, Magic the Gathering to cycling and videos games to making cringe worthy puns. Most importantly though, I love and Jesus and his Word. My role mostly includes organising stuff, meeting lots of people for coffee and encouraging and serving people to be able to live as salt and light at uni.

Secretary: Becky Richards
Heyyy- I’m Becky and I’m from Chichester, just keep going South and you’ll get there eventually. I’m a second-year history student and a proud member of Pendle College. I love all things outdoors like hiking, climbing and cycling. When it rains, which it does a lot, I enjoy baking (on a colossal scale, just ask my housemates!) and messing about on the piano or Flute. I’m the secretary of the CU which means I book rooms, keep on top of admin stuff and pretend I’m really organised!

Treasurer: Andy Niblett
Hi, my name is Andy and I’m from the West-Midlands. As your trusty Treasurer, I get to go around harassing people for money. All joking aside, I also run the CU Supports Page and any questions involving finance and fundraising come to me! I’m currently a fourth-year Physicist, most recognised in a crowd and love nothing more than relaxing outside in the sun listening to music. Also, TECH TEAM!!

Week-long Events Coordinator: Amelia Knapper
Hiiii, I’m Amelia and I’m a third-year Geography student. I’m from Stoke (so yes I say looook, booook and cooook). I’m coordinating our Fresher’s Week events, so if you’re a fresher looking to get involved in CU, feel free to message me on Facebook! I love Waterloo Road, gravy and anything pink and sparkly. I’m also super excited for our biggest evangelistic mission week ever!!!

Lunchbar Coordinator: Lydia Nicholson
Hi there, I’m Lydia, a nature loving environmental biologist going into my second year. You’re most likely to find my climbing a tree or in a cute little coffee shop armed with a book. However, I also happen to be the regular events coordinator which means help arrange lunchbars and text 4 toastie events which you’ll soon find out about. And heads up I am always on the look out for helpful volunteers!

International Coordinator: Johnny Malcolm
My name is Johnny; I am a second year medical student and the current international secretary of the Christian union. I grew up in Norwich, but before coming to university took a gap year to Japan. My interests include juggling, studying the Japanese language and listening to music. Having spent a year living abroad before coming to university, I understand some of the challenges and difficulties that international students face. I hope that as a Christian union we can be welcoming and loving to international students and share with them the wonderful news of Jesus death and resurrection.
